Salem Massachusetts is my home away from home. For a Halloween Enthusiast, this town is a dream. Fall, Halloween, spooky things, cemeteries, history, and scenic beauty there is something for everyone to enjoy in the Witch City. Every season is a hit for Salem, but Fall is the hottest spot for tourists. Salem holds history for centuries from Leslie’s Retreat to the Salem Witch Trials (Salem the POD. 2023). This town is just as much adventurous as it is educational. When I write, I always picture Salem and make my imaginary world around the joys that come with The Witch City. This blog will show just a little of what Salem has to offer.
Autumn, Pumpkins, and Halloween fun
Salem embraces pumpkin fans in all types of ways. From pumpkins on window sills, pumpkins on door steps, to pumpkin snacks, Salem has you covered. For many people, Halloween is the highlight of Fall and Salem lives up to their Halloween name. Salem welcomes all types of costumes and they support their tourists to dress how they prefer. After all, Salem is called The Witch City! How much does Salem encounter the witch trials into their everyday life? The police cars have the witch city symbol, which is of course, a witch. The water town has a witch riding a broom stick. Their school mascot is even called the witches.
Throughout the month of October, the city hosts a series of events called The Haunted Happenings. Which includes a giant parade to kick start the month of October off. The Haunted Happenings offer pet parades, mini markets, costume balls, ghost tours, spooky seances, Halloween movie nights, etc.
Scenic Stoll’s
If you love spooky things, you can tour haunted houses and cemeteries. If you love sight-seeing Salem’s neighborhoods are full of colonial houses and Victorian houses which are beautiful to see. If you love the old time feel, with this walking city, most of the streets and sidewalks are still brick laid. If you are a fan of Hocus Pocus the Disney movie, you can visit the actual film locations that were held here. Downtown Salem also offers a walking shopping district full of magic places such as a Nightmare Gallery, Moons gift shop, Covens Cottage, recreations of the Salem Witch Trials and many, many more!
Apart from these areas, there is also the Salem maritime. Pirate ships and boats are a huge part of Salem. You can even see a pirate ship docked at the Salem Harbor. There is the Salem lighthouse and you can even take Harbor tours.
In conclusion, Salem’s fall charms and Halloween enchantment are as bewitching as they are unforgettable. Whether you’re drawn to its pumpkin delights, the haunted happenings activities, or its scenic glories, Salem offers a magical experience that will leave you under its spell long after you leave.
