Melissa's love for literature began at a young age. No matter where she went, a book was always in her hands. Today, Melissa is not only a writer for the Toledo City Paper, but also an aspiring author with a passion for mystery, thriller, and young adult novels. With a Master’s Degree in Professional Writing, she aims to inspire readers through her storytelling and hopes to one day work with one of the Big 5 Publishing Houses as an editor, helping other authors bring their stories to life.

Before pursuing her writing career, Melissa earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a concentration in Biology from The University of Toledo, and also holds an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Her diverse professional background includes four years as a Chemist and five years as an Inventory Control Specialist. While her career has been rooted in science, Melissa’s true passion lies in writing and sharing the stories that dwell within her imagination. Her goal is to transition into a full-time author, while also contributing to the literary world as an editor with a publishing company.

 

Outside of her writing career, Melissa is a Halloween enthusiast who lives for fall vibes. The changing leaves remind her that transformation can be a beautiful thing. Her favorite vacation spot is the New England area, particularly Salem, Massachusetts, where she can immerse herself in her love for witches and all things Halloween. When she's not writing, you can find Melissa reading, sipping coffee, or enjoying the outdoors. She lives in Northwest Ohio with her son, Noah, her dog, Bellatrix, and her cat, Endora.
